## What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a site, which keeps information from one page to another or one visit to the next. Some are essential for the site to work, others require your prior consent.

## What allaux.fr actually places

allaux.fr uses a deliberately small number of trackers:

A session cookie, strictly necessary for the site to work (keeping the client area logged in, form security). It's deleted when the browser closes or the session expires.

Local storage for the theme (light or dark display), which stays on your device until you change it or clear your browsing data.

Local storage for your consent choice, which remembers whether you accepted or declined non-essential cookies, so you're not asked again on every visit.

An audience measurement tool, enabled only once you've accepted it, which shows how many people visit the site and which pages are viewed. It stays off until you give your consent.

## Cookies exempt from consent, and cookies requiring consent

The law distinguishes two categories:

Cookies exempt from consent are those strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user, or used solely to measure audience anonymously under strict conditions. This covers the session cookie and the local storage for theme and consent: without them, some site functions wouldn't work properly, and placing them doesn't require your prior agreement.

Cookies requiring consent are all the others, notably those linked to audience measurement where it doesn't meet the exemption criteria, or any advertising tools. On allaux.fr, this covers audience measurement, which is only enabled after your explicit acceptance.

## Managing your choices

On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline cookies requiring consent. Your choice is saved and respected on later visits.

You can change this choice at any time: le bouton « Gérer les cookies » présent en pied de page de chaque page du site, une fois qu’un premier choix a été enregistré. You can also delete cookies and local storage data directly from your browser settings.

Your consent choice is kept for a maximum of 13 months, in line with CNIL recommendations, after which you'll be asked again.
