## Each combination has its own stock life

In PrestaShop, combinations are managed in a product's Combinations tab, once attributes have been defined under Catalog > Attributes. Each combination has its own stock, independent of the others: a red T-shirt in size M can sell out while size L stays available, without affecting the product's overall display as long as one combination remains in stock.

A combination can also carry its own price adjustment relative to the base product, which makes it possible, for example, to charge extra for an XXL size. For an online seller, precise combination management avoids two common problems: selling an item that's actually out of stock in a given size, or needlessly hiding an entire product when it's still available in other variants.

## In practice

> A reference (SKU) can be set at the level of each combination rather than at the product level, which makes stock tracking easier during an external sync.

## FAQ

### What happens if every combination of a product sells out?

The product shows as unavailable for sale, as long as no combination has positive stock or restocking hasn't been recorded in the back office.

### Can a combination have its own image?

Yes, specific images can be attached to a combination, so the right photo displays automatically when the customer picks a colour.

### Does deleting a combination delete the whole product?

No, only that combination disappears; the product and its other combinations stay unchanged, as long as at least one remains active.
