# Running a B2B catalogue on Shopify

> Since 2 April 2026, Shopify’s native B2B is no longer Plus-only: company accounts, price catalogues, volume pricing and payment terms are available on every paid plan. What remains on Plus is narrower than it was, but it starts to matter as soon as you need more than three catalogues.

## Direct answer

> In the Shopify admin, create the buyer under Customers then Companies, with at least one company location: payment terms and tax settings sit on the location, not on the contact. Then attach a price catalogue to it, where you set the rates and the volume discounts. With no catalogue attached, a logged-in buyer still sees retail prices.

## How I approach a B2B selling request

1. **Look at what can already be switched on** — The first move is no longer to check the plan but to open the admin: company accounts, catalogues and payment terms are there on Basic, Grow and Advanced. Plenty of stores still pay an app for what has become native.
2. **Map out the real need** — Different pricing per customer, minimum order quantities, a catalogue hidden from unapproved visitors: I list precisely what needs to change depending on customer type before choosing a mechanism.
3. **Count the catalogues needed** — Three active catalogues maximum off Plus, across all markets combined. If pricing has to be negotiated per customer, that’s where the plan becomes a genuine question — not before.
4. **Check how catalogues get assigned** — Off Plus, a catalogue is assigned through markets, not directly to a company or a shipping location. I factor that into how accounts and markets are organised from the start.
5. **Document the setup’s limits** — I always state what the chosen setup doesn’t do, to avoid late surprises on an order flow that ends up central to the business.

## What I hear regularly

- I want to offer different prices to my business customers and my retail customers
- I was told Shopify B2B was Plus-only and I don’t know whether that still holds
- I’ve been paying for a wholesale app for years and I wonder whether it still earns its keep
- I need per-customer pricing and three catalogues are no longer enough
- I want to invoice some accounts on thirty-day terms and charge the rest immediately

## What’s native since April 2026, and what stays on Plus

On 2 April 2026, Shopify opened its native B2B to the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans at no extra cost. Available on every paid plan: company profiles — grouping several buyers and several shipping locations under one organisation — up to three active catalogues, volume pricing, payment terms such as net 30 or net 60, vaulted credit cards on the buyer account, and ACH payments in the United States.

What remains specific to Shopify Plus is narrower than before, but decisive as soon as pricing gets genuinely per-customer: unlimited catalogues, assigning a catalogue directly to a company or a location — off Plus, assignment goes through markets — deposits and partial payments, and customising the information, shipping and payment steps of checkout, which depends on Checkout Extensibility.

The practical consequence is usually the same: the store is still running a wholesale app, or a customer-tag logic built before April 2026, for a need the native features now cover. Before adding anything, I look at what is duplicated and what can be dismantled without breaking orders in flight.

## Three catalogues is the first ceiling you hit

> The three active catalogue limit applies across all markets combined, not per market. A business negotiating a price list per customer passes it quickly: that is what pushes a store towards Plus, far more often than company accounts themselves. I’d rather say so before building a catalogue structure that won’t last six months.

## FAQ

### Is Shopify’s native B2B still Plus-only?

No. Since 2 April 2026, company accounts, price catalogues, volume pricing and payment terms are available on Basic, Grow and Advanced at no extra cost.

### How many catalogues can I use off Plus?

Three active catalogues maximum, across all markets combined rather than per market. Unlimited catalogues remain a Shopify Plus feature.

### Do I still need a wholesale app?

Often not, if the need stops at per-company pricing, volume discounts and payment terms. I check what the native features cover before renewing a subscription.

### Can I offer thirty-day terms to certain customers?

Yes, payment terms are part of the baseline opened to every paid plan. Deposits and partial payments, on the other hand, stay on Shopify Plus.

### Can I assign a catalogue directly to a company?

Off Plus, no: assignment goes through markets. Direct assignment to a company or a shipping location remains a Plus feature.

### Can I customise the B2B checkout?

The information, shipping and payment steps require Checkout Extensibility, which is Plus-only. Thank you and Order status page extensions, however, are open to the other plans.
